The 21st Awit Awards Coverage

2 Comments
The Philippine Association of the Record Industry, Inc. (PARI) held its 21st Awit Awards at the Eastwood Central Plaza in Quezon City last November 26, 2008.

Awit Awards, organized by the Philippine Association Of The Record Industry (PARI), once again recognized the Filipino musical talents, performing artists, producers and people behind the making of Filipino recorded music.

Being the prestigious and longest-running award-giving body of the Philippines, Awit Awards has five objectives:

1. To recognize exceptional works of music and the people working behind it;
2. To promote the Philippine music industry, artistry, and legacy;
3. To champion music making and production, at par with global trends and excellence;
4. To showcase talents in an event dedicated to music; and
5. To reinforce the fight against piracy.

PRE-AWARDING

Around 6:30 PM, Callalily and Pedicab started the pre-awarding program with powerful performance. Hosted by Richard Poon and Sitti, the pre-awarding revealed the worthy awardees for Best Inspirational/Religious, Best Christmas, Best Regional, Best Dance, Best Musical Arrangement, Best Vocal Arrangement, Best Engineered Recording and Best Album Package

To name a few awardees for this category:
Yeng Constationo’s Salamat won the Best Inspirational/Religious.
A Perfect Christmas by Jed Madela got the Best Christmas Song.
Kuya
Angee Rozul’s Probinsyana was chosen to be the Best Engineered Recording. (Angee Rozul is my friend’s brother) Congrats Kuya!

Anyway, the pre-awarding ended with a Samba performed by Eileen Sison of Guarana together with the sexy dancers from Escola de Samba de Manila. The men were drooling while the dancers moved their hips. I can’t blame them as those girls really know how to move on the dance floor, or should I say on stage.

AWARDS PROPER

At exactly 7:45 PM, the stage lights were up again as 6Cyclemind and Sandwich performed a collaboration of Sandwich’s Betamax.

Hosted by Christian Bautista and Nikki Gil, the 21st Awit Awards was a combination of award presentations and musical performances. Aside from 6Cyclemind and Sandwich, bands like Itchyworms, Sino Sikat?, Parokya ni Edgar, True Faith, Cueshe, Hale also rocked the night. Nyoy Volante, Julianne, and MYMP had a back to back to back acoustic session. While Richard Poon and Sitti serenaded the crowd. It was really a night of music.

The “Dangal ng Musikang Pilipino Award” by the Philippine Association of Record Industries (PARI) was given to Ms. Lea Salonga during the 21st Awit Awards Night. Karylle, Ronnie Liang, Aicelle Santos, Raki Vega, Nikki Gil, Christian Bautista, and Toni Gonzaga paid tribute to the multitalented Ms. Lea Salonga with her hits. Unfortunately, Ms. Lea Salonga was not there to accept the award. Instead, she prepared a short video for all of her fans, family and friends in the industry.

Yeng Constantion received several awards including Best Selling Album of the Year, Album of the Year, and Music Video of the Year. However, Yeng Constatinto is on tour with Gary V. Julianne also received several awards such Best Performance by a New Female Recording Artist and Best Performance by a Female Recording Artist.

Though most of the winners were not there to receive the awards, the 21st Awit Awards was a success. It was fun to be a part of this event.

Congratulations to all the winners !

Dinos Alive World Tour

Yipee! I am invited to Dinos Alive Grand Launch World Tour on November 27, 2008. I am lucky to be chosen to be one of the few people to experience the Grand Launch Of Dinos Alive World Tour. Thanks to Miss Noemi. I’m really excited, not only I have a chance become a kid again, but also because I can bring 3 more people on the Grand Launch. I can’t wait to see giant dinosaurs like the T-rex, Apatosaurus, Brachiosaurus and more.

What is Dinos Alive?

Kids can take a ride on the dino train & simulator rides, excavate the fossil dig pit, purchase merchandise, and photo taking with Santa and the Dinos. There will be a large Christmas themed F&B area furnished with a movie theatre for relaxation.

Batangas: A Great Getaway Destination

0 Comments
Travel is one of my passion. Too bad, when I got married (plus my husband is working in a call center), I don’t have the time to travel. But we are planning to have a vacation by early 2009. We are thinking Batangas will be a nice place to relax and also to celebrate our anniversary.

Batangas is one of the places in the Philippines which houses several tourist spots that the country is being proud of. It is approximately two and a half hours from Manila proper and is strategically located at the southern coast of Metro Manila where you can find Anilao, which is known for its diving sites. Here you can also find Taal Volcano and Taal lake and of course, Tagaytay.
There are a lot of things to do in Batangas that a short vacation will not do. You can see caged tigers, swim in their one-of-a-kind swimming place where the reef is carved at the foot of the ladders to make it as a small swimming area, snorkel at Sombrero island to see the beautiful colors of various corals.

There are fresh-water beaches in the towns around the Lake — San Nicolas, Agoncillo, Cuenca, Balete, Tanauan and Talisay. Salt-water beaches abound in the following towns: Matabungkay (Lian town), Nasugbu, Calatagan, Calaca, Lemery, Taal, San Luis, Bauan, Lobo, and Laiya (San Juan town). Or you can opt to explore their mountains! There is mountain trekking in Mt. Maculot and in Mabini and Nasugbu towns. There are also several island tourist destinations, like Tingloy, Verde Island, Ligpo Island, and Fortune Island and also Industrial Parks and various manufacturing industries dotting the shoreline.
