Former President Corazon Cory Aquino was laid to rest beside her husband Ninoy Aquino earlier, August 5, 2009.

Cory’s cortege from Manila Cathedral to Manila Memorial Park took roughly eight hours. The funeral procession slowed down by tens of thousands who lined up on the streets and braved occasional heavy rains to bid her farewell. So many people whether rich and poor came together to bring the Philippines’ Icon of Democracy in yellow to her final resting place.

Though I was just watching the coverage online, I can’t help but cry because of President Cory. Even my friend cried. Because of the death of President Cory, she decided to go home to her mom who has malignant Mesothelioma. She wants to care of her like what Aquino sibling did to their mom.

Anyway, to Tita Cory, thank you so much for bringing back democracy to the Philippines.
