Yesterday, we celebrated our grandfather’s birthday, Daddy John. We had shrimp, lengua (cow’s tongue), lapu-lapu, Bicol Express, and more. But my favorite is the birthday cake, the Estrel’s caramel cake:
Anyway, this caramel flavored cake is a chiffon cake but it was not too sweet. The icing is neither thick nor thin, very smooth, and light brown in color. The flower trimmings are made with butter icing, not hardened sugar in toothpicks. It is so perfect. Yummy!
As far as I know, it costs P550 for an 8-inch round cake with caramel filling and P500 without filling. And since this is a made-to-order cake, you need to order two days in advance.
